Bringing you warm and hospitable greetings from the great American south, I’m Jeff Welch. Originally from the Bluegrass state of Kentucky, I now call Atlanta home.
I worked in media advertising for several years, and eventually ended up training others in the same field. That job landed me the very rewarding position that I now hold as an instructor with Langevin Learning Services. I actually attended Langevin workshops as a participant before becoming an instructor. I strive to connect with my participants the very same way my original Langevin instructor connected with me.
I started in the training industry in 1996, but my love of communicating and connecting with people started long before then. I have a Bachelor of Arts in communications. I double majored in both television broadcasting and speech communications. I’ve worked as a tour guide, television reporter, flight attendant, and aerobics instructor.
My training philosophy was developed, oddly enough, after reading the fortune from a fortune cookie! It read, “One learns most from teaching others.” I am very thankful for the life lessons that some of my participants have taught me, without even realizing it. Hopefully I can return this favor each time I enter the classroom.
I love to cook! If I had to do it all over again, I probably would have gone to culinary school instead of traditional university. I feel that good food should be accompanied by good wine, so I’m a wine enthusiast who makes it a point to tour wineries while vacationing. Speaking of vacation, that’s my other passion – travel. So far I’ve traveled to 32 countries on five continents and I’m not done yet!
Dreams do come true, so never downplay another’s, no matter how farfetched they may seem. Years ago, I met someone who expressed that he wanted to write plays and movies, even though at the time he was making minimum wage, working in a call center. My internal, cynical voice said, “Yeah, right.” Today, that very same person is now a successful (and extremely wealthy, I might add) playwright and movie producer.
Although there are many, the one that stands out the most occurred when a participant told me she appreciated that “my video matched my audio.” I was humbled by her compliment, as it’s important to me that I practice and model all the things that I recommend trainers do in their very own classes.
Now that you’ve gotten to know me a little better, I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you when I see you in the next Langevin Learning Services course.
"Fabulous & Phenomenal. Jeff made learning this information easy and memorable. Trainers normally don't make good students but I was captivated the entire time."Shawn Atkins Verizon Wireless
